Last summer, I visited my mother’s childhood hometown, Autlan de Navarro in Mexico, and discovered a local orphanage. As my mom and I decided to drop off baby clothes and diapers, the nun gave us a tour of the orphanage. I was shocked. The two Brazilian nuns, who have dedicated their whole lives to Hogar del Niño Desprotegido San Isidro (San Isidro House for Neglected Children) told us about their everyday struggle to provide for the 21 children they house. I realized how fortunate I am for the opportunities the people in my life have provided for me and I wanted to use these opportunities, to help others.
For 2015, my goal is to raise $2,000 to provide the orphanage with 5 laptops, so that the children can their homework.
